Theories such as Bonney was still a kid began to gain traction. In the end, these theories became a reality as Bonney was revealed to be a 12-year-old kid in the story. This means she was only 10 years old when she debuted in the Saboady Archipelago arc. Even though she is a kid, she sure has several remarkable achievements under her belt.

Oda cleverly kept the details of the relationship between Kuma and Bonney a secret for many years. However, the creator inadvertently spoiled the fandom years before the reveal. Yes, a concept art of Bonney in the Vivre Card databook contained ambiguous information about their connection.

Furthermore, the artwork revealed Bonney’s storyline in the Egghead arc, which was to make the genius scientist, Dr. Vegapunk, restore her father to his old self; not controlled by the evil World Government. The spoilers were released when the Wano Country arc was ongoing in the manga.

3. Bonney Is a World Noble

Many in the One Piece community might not be aware of the dark past of Bonney’s birth in One Piece. Bonney’s mother, Ginny, was kidnapped and unwillingly married to a Celestial Dragon. Then, she was forced to bear a kid, which was Bonney.

4. The Truth Behind Bonney’s Name

Bonney’s character and name must have been inspired by Anne Bonny. She was a noble who left everything to become a pirate in real life during the 18th century. If you look closely, Bonney was also born a world noble, but she had to become a pirate to get her adoptive father Kuma back to normalcy.

As for her last name, Jewelry, there is a story behind it too. Fans know that Bonney suffered from the Sapphire Scales disease, which turned her skin hard like stones. However, Bartholomew Kuma comforted little Bonney by calling it a jewel; that is how the name Jewelry originated!

5. Youngest Pirate in One Piece

Bonney being revealed to be a 12-year-old kid might not be surprising news for many fans as it has been a popular theory for years. However, the incredible achievements she made as a kid are mind-blowing.

When she was 12, she out to the seas to find her father, and during this time, she became a super rookie, part of the Worst Generation, earned a bounty of 320 million berries, fought against the Five Elders, and much more. She was the youngest pirate captain we ever came across and her numerous records still baffle the community.

Oda sensei likes to reveal the home countries of his characters based on real life from time to time. As such, he shared Bonney would be an Australian if One Piece took place in our real world.

Aside from this, Oda also commented that Bonney would have owned a Pizza Shop if she hadn’t chosen to be a pirate. Indeed Bonney’s love for those delicious chessy slices would have made her a passionate pizza shop owner in real life.

7. Bonney’s Birthday

Oda also has a habit of creating birthdays for his characters based on their epithets, as seen with Franky, Shanks, and many other characters. Bonney was known as Big Eater, which translates to Ō (1)-Gurai (9) in Japanese. Hence, the creator chose September 1 as the birth date of Bonney in One Piece.

8. Bonney’s Favorite Things

Bonney is a big eater as a kid, just like how Luffy used to be (and still is). That is why her hobby is mentioned to be eating food. When it came to food, Bonney’s favorite food is Margherita pizza and her least favorite is carrots. Apart from that, she loves to play Jenga.
